Congratulation on your new phone, this guide will go over how to setup your new Android or iPhone/iPad. You can use either your PC or DejaCloud (the Via Sync section) or your old phone (the No Sync section).

NOTE: We have gotten reports that Samsung's Smartswitch feature may work perfectly without user intervention, it is worth trying Smartswitch first and then continue with our guide if necessary.

Amazon Fire Devices and Other Android Devices without Google Play Store

DejaOffice can be found on the Amazon App Store and installed there. You can also install DejaOffice manually using the instructions here

Android Devices (via Sync)

If you are currently syncing to DejaCloud or a PC database, use these steps to move your data to a new device. If you have an existing sync, please be sure to run a "Sync" with old device and the PC database first to ensure all information has been synced out of the old device.

On the New Android:
  1. Open the Google Play store on the device.
  2. Tap search at the top of the Play Store and search for DejaOffice.
  3. Tap on DejaOffice from the results and select Install.
  4. Once complete, choose Open and follow the Setup Wizard. Be sure to select the original sync method that CompanionLink on the PC is using. If you need further help check our Setup Guides Here.

On the PC:
  1. For the first sync, if the PC has the best and most recent set of Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes, you will want to enable a Reread of the PC data. These steps can be found Here.
  2. After resintalling\setting up DejaOffice, and enabling the Reread, return to the main menu of both CompanionLink on the PC and DejaOffice on the Android.
  3. Run the Sync as normal

Android Devices (No Sync)

If you do not sync with a PC database, use the following steps to import from an old device.

On the Old Device (older install):

  1. Connect your original Android device to your PC via a USB cable and select "File Transfer" mode when prompted.
  2. On your PC, open the Windows File Explorer and browse to your Phone's Internal storage.
  3. Copy the entire CLUSB folder to your Desktop.

On the Old Device (newer install):

  1. Connect your original Android device to your PC via a USB cable and select "File Transfer" mode when prompted.
  2. On your PC, open the Windows File Explorer and browse to your Phone's Internal storage.
  3. Browse to \Android\data\com.companionlink.clusbsync\files\ and copy the entire files folder to your Desktop.
  • Note: In OS 11+, the new data folder is only visible from the PC, the Android File explorer will not display data in the Android\Data folders.

On the New Device

  1. Install DejaOffice on the new Phone, open when installed and select Skip on the Setup Wizard and tap Exit.
  2. Connect your new Android device to your PC via a USB cable and select "File Transfer" mode when prompted.
  3. On your PC, open the Windows File Explorer and browse to \Android\data\com.companionlink.clusbsync\files\ in your phone's storage.
  4. Copy the contents of the entire folder from your desktop to your new Android's storage. If prompted choose replace to any files.
  5. Disconnect the USB Cable and open DejaOffice on the new phone.
  • Note: Historically, Android Smart Switch will only backup the App install and not the data folder. Use the above steps to repopulate DejaOffice if you currently do not have a sync setup. We have had recent reports that Samsung Smart Switch does now move the data folder over.
