Set Outlook as default mail client

Symptoms: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

Cause: This issue may occur if the Outlook registry key is not accessible or corrupted. When other programs try to use the Outlook Simple MAPI interface, they cannot retrieve the required information from the registry.

Run CompanionLink in Administrator Mode

  1. Right click on CompanionLink
  2. Select Properties
  3. Select Run as Administrator

Make sure Outlook is set as the default program

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Select File
  3. Select Options
  4. Make Outlook the default program for Email, Contacts, and Calendar

Check Windows Default Program Settings

  1. Go to the Windows Start Menu
  2. Type Default Programs
  3. Press Enter
  4. Select Set your default programs
  5. Select Outlook
  6. Select the option Set this program as default
