How to set up CompanionLink with Google 2-Step Verification

Google 2-Step Verification

Google now offers an optional security feature called 2-Step Verification. If this feature is enabled for your account you will have to create an application specific password to re-enable CompanionLink sync with Google.

Creating an application specific password

1. Log into your Gmail account
2. Click on the gear icon to the right of the screen and select settings
3. Click Accounts and then Other Google Account Settings
4. Click Security on the top bar
5. Next to 2-Step Verification click Settings
6. If prompted please enter your Google password and click Sign In
7. On the 2-Step Verification Settings page click App-Specific Passwords
8. Click Manage Application Specific Passwords
9. Enter your password and sign in again
10. In the Name field enter CompanionLink and click Generate Password

Changing the Password in CompanionLink

1. Open CompanionLink
2. Click on Settings
3. Click Settings again under the section that says Sync with Google
4. Enter the generated password into the password field
5. Click OK to resume syncing
