There is a common issue in Palm Desktop 6 where Palm cannot access the database properly, this is due to logic that worked fine 15 years ago but now on Windows 10/11 it can be problematic. It is advised to move your database to a more ideal location:
Right Click Palm Desktop 6's icon > Select Properties
Select the Compatibility tab
Check "Run this program as an administrator"
Click Apply and close
Locate your database, this is most likely in C:\[your username]\Documents\Palm OS Desktop
Move all the files in Palm OS Desktop to C:\Palm <- create this folder
Open the Start Menu and open Registry Editor (regedit)
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop\Core, look for the Path variable and edit it to be the new file location C:\Palm
After installation, the Synchronization Setup will automatically launch.
Enter a name for your Device
If it asks you to choose between Microsoft Outlook or Palm Desktop, select Palm Desktop.
Exit the Installer and Palm Desktop.
Relocating Palm Desktop 4 Data files
In Vista and later versions of Windows, the protected Program Files folder prohibits CompanionLink from accessing Palm Desktop 4's data in its default location, so the data directory must be changed before syncing with CompanionLink.
Right Click Palm Desktop 4's icon > Select Properties
Select the Compatibility tab
Check "Run this program as an administrator"
Click Apply and close
Open Palm Desktop 4
Select Tools > Options
Change the "Data Directory" to a new folder outside of "Program Files" (ie. C:\Palm Desktop)
