How to Stop Cursor from Jumping to Bottom of Edit Text on a Samsung Android Phone
In a recent Android OS update some apps are seeing an issue with Text Fields scrolling to the bottom of the field when you select it.
For large fields this can be very inconvenient when you are just trying to type something.
The issue is related "Suggest Text Corrections" function which was integrated into the Samsung keyboard.

If you are seeing this issue with any other Apps you can repeat the same steps above but select the specific app you are seeing the issue with.
Change Keyboard Apps
This issue only occurs with the Samsung keyboard app. This is the default keyboard that comes with all Samsung phones. You can resolve this issue by using a different keyboard app.
Some options for Keyboard app:
- Google Keyboard (GBoard)
- Swiftkey
- OpenBoard (open source and not reliant on Google but requires the use of F-Droid alternative app store)
How to change keyboard app:
- Open the "Settings" app on the phone
- Tap "General Management"
- Tap "Keyboard list"
- Tap "Default"
- Tap "Default Keyboard"
- Choose the desired installed keyboard
For DejaOffice
There is an issue due to the Grammerly integration into the Samsung keyboard, this can cause note and other text fields to suddenly scroll to the bottom during typing. This can be remedied by turning off Grammerly integration for the DejaOffice app.
- Open the Android Settings.
- Select General Management.
- Select Samsung Keyboard Settings.
- Select the "Suggest Text Corrections" option.
- Tap the "Manage Apps" option.
- Find "DejaOffice" and tap it
- Turn this off for the "DejaOffice" app only
