BlackBerry Desktop add-in fails to register

If the CompanionLink add-in fails to appear in the BlackBerry Desktop software and you have attempted to manually register the add-in only to receive the error "The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" it may be necessary to install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package. Please follow the steps below to do so.

Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package, then re-register the add-in.
