The connection was lost
Symptom:
- Synching a Palm OS handheld.
- Connecting via USB.
- Error message: 'The connection was lost.'
Explanation:
USB devices tend to 'time out' when a large amount of data is being sent. The Palm mXXX series in particular had a bug where this would
happen with relatively small amounts of data.
Fix:
- If your Hotsync Manager program version is 4.0 or less, you will need to update your Palm software. The fix to this was added in HotSync Manager version 4.0.1. You can download the Palm software from our website.
- If your Hotsync Manager is up-to-date, you can try doing a two-step sync, by setting CompanionLink to use Palm Desktop as the handheld. This will reduce the amount of time spent doing the sync and can sometimes fix this problem.
Note: All models can get this error message if disturbed during the sync (for example, by the cable being pulled out or Hotsync Manager
being closed on the desktop).
