Abnormal program termination
Symptom:
- Getting error: 'Abnormal program termination'.
Explanation:
There are multiple causes for this error. The most common is that the synchronization has been interrupted in some way. This was also a common error in CompanionLink in versions prior to 1.3, build 436. Currently, this is usually seen when the Outlook database has become corrupted or when a very old version of CompanionLink has been upgraded improperly.
Fix:
- If you are using a version of CompanionLink prior to CompanionLink version 1.3, build 436, you will need to update your CompanionLink to a more recent build.
- If you have just upgraded your CompanionLink from a version prior to 1.3, build 436, you will need to uninstall CompanionLink, delete the CompanionLink folder (typically c:\Program Files\CompanionLink) and then reinstall the program.
- If you are synchronizing with Outlook, you will need to do the following:
- Open Outlook.
- Go to the area of Outlook where the error occurred (such as Contacts). Go to the View menu, select Current View and then
By Category. Look for a crossed swords icon or other warning icon. If you find one, double-click the item to resolve it.
- Go to the Tools menu and select Empty Deleted Items Folder.
- Go to the Help menu and select Detect And Repair.
