Android USB Device Specific Notes

Depending on which Android device you are using you made need to be connecting your device to the PC in a mode other than Charge Only. Some devices may not have an SD which is required for syncing. Below are some device specific notes.

Contents

Motorola devices

Droid RAZR| Droid X | Droid X2 | Droid 2 | Droid 2 Global | Droid 3 | Droid Pro | Droid Bionic | Atrix | Atrix 2 | Photon

For all Motorola devices, when using DejaOffice to sync via USB, you need to select "Charge Only" or "None" as the USB connection type when connecting to the PC. More Info

Droid Pro (w/ 2.3.3 update) The recent Android 2.3.3 update to Droid Pro users may cause their devices to no longer mount in USB Mass Storage Mode. This prevents DejaOffice and CompanionLink from syncing via USB. This can be resolved by following these steps - Droid Pro does not mount to PC.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) device. This device does not have an external SD card slot, which means that USB sync will not work with DejaOffice on this device (more info). CompanionLink is working on a possible solution for this. In the meantime, CompanionLink recommends syncing via Local Wi-Fi Sync , Secure Hosted Wireless Sync or Google.

Samsung Nexus S

Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update: DejaOffice 1.12.8 is required for USB Sync.

Samsung TouchWiz devices

On most of these phones, the default USB setting is set to "Kies" mode. For DejaOffice to sync via USB, you must change this setting in Android settings. These are located in different places depending on your specific device and carrier.

Android 3.x (Honeycomb) Tablets

CompanionLink recommends syncing via Local Wi-Fi Sync , Secure Hosted Wireless Sync or Google for all Honeycomb Tablets.

USB Sync will not work because Honeycomb tablets do not have a mountable SD card (with read and write access from the PC and DejaOffice). We are currently exploring alternative methods for USB sync.

CompanionLink is working on a new USB sync mode that will support Android 3.0+ devices (USB Debug Mode Sync). This feature is currently in beta. To try this new mode, visit http://www.dejaoffice.com/forums/showthread.php?2024-DejaOffice-2-1-2-beta-new-USB-sync-method

Motorola Xoom

Google/Motorola/Verizon recently released Android 3.2, which adds support for SD cards. Unfortunately DejaOffice is still unable to support USB sync with this update. In this update the Android OS is only able to read the SD card, and not write to it. DejaOffice needs full read and write capabilities for USB sync to work, and we hope an update will enable us to.

Toshiba Thrive

The Toshiba Thrive supports read and write access to its SD card, but unfortunately DejaOffice is still unable to support USB sync at this time. The device's SD card is only writable (on the Android side) from the proprietary "Toshiba File Manager" app. DejaOffice needs full read and write capabilities for USB sync to work, and we hope an update will enable us to.

Acer Iconia Tab A500/A100 | T-Mobile G-Slate/Optimus Pad | ASUS Eee Pad Transformer/Slider | Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

These devices do not support SD cards at this time. DejaOffice requires a mountable SD card for USB sync to work.

Amazon Kindle Fire

The Kindle Fire automatically mounts SD card storage when connected to the PC. Before you can sync via USB, you must first unmount the SD card. Please use the following steps to do this:

  1. Connect the Kindle Fire to the Computer
  2. Wait for the "disconnect" button to appear at the bottom of the Kindle screen; press this
  3. Open DejaOffice and press the sync button from the main menu

Barnes & Noble NOOK Tablet

Because the NOOK Tablet does not include the Android Market, you must install DejaOffice directly from http://www.dejaoffice.com/androidapp. DejaOffice currently requires an SD card to work - the NOOK Tablet does not ship with an included SD card.

Once installed, DejaOffice may not appear in your Apps list. DejaOffice can be found using the Search function on the NOOK Tablet.

DejaOffice does not currently support syncing to the native contacts and calendar accounts on the NOOK Tablet. Contact and calendar data will sync to the DejaOffice apps only.

USB Sync is currently not supported on the NOOK Tablet. We recommend using local Wi-Fi sync.
