How to restore your DejaOffice for Android database

NOTE: This article only applies to DejaOffice 1.12.3 or higher. Auto-backup was not a feature in earlier versions of DejaOffice, so this article is not applicable to DejaOffice versions prior to 1.12.3.

DejaOffice 1.12.3 and higher automatically backs up your database to your device when you synchronize. In the event of database corruption or deletion, you can use the instructions below to restore your database to its state just prior to your most recent synchronization.

Restore an internal DejaOffice Backup

Restoring from a PC Backup Automatically (Build 1524 and higher)

  1. Open DejaOffice.
  2. Tap Settings, tap Logging and Support Settings.
  3. Tap the "Restore a Backup" and select the backup with a file size\time and date stamp that looks correct.
  • Note: You might have to allow access to the Android Documents folder for the Backup list to load.

New Storage Location:

  1. Exit CompanionLink on your PC, if it is running.
  2. Connect your Android device to your PC and mount it as a disk drive (i.e. mass storage mode).
  3. On your PC, open Computer or My Computer, then open your SD card/removable drive.
  4. Browse to \Android\data\com.companionlink.clusbsync\files\backup\
  5. In this folder, you will see a file named companionlink<date>.db (e.g. companionlink2011-11-04.db). This is a backup of your database prior to your most recent synchronization. If this is a .zip File you will need to Extract it first.
  6. Rename this file to companionlink.db
  7. Copy the file to the \Android\data\com.companionlink.clusbsync\files\ folder. Choose to replace the existing companionlink.db file if prompted.


Legacy Storage Location:

  1. Exit CompanionLink on your PC, if it is running.
  2. Connect your Android device to your PC and mount it as a disk drive (i.e. mass storage mode).
  3. On your PC, open Computer or My Computer, then open your SD card/removable drive.
  4. Browse to \clusb\backup
  5. In this folder, you will see a file named companionlink<date>.db (e.g. companionlink2011-11-04.db). This is a backup of your database prior to your most recent synchronization. If this is a .zip File you will need to Extract it first.
  6. Rename this file to companionlink.db
  7. Copy the file to the \clusb folder. Choose to replace the existing companionlink.db file if prompted.


Restore an emailed Backup of the DejaOffice database

Restoring from a PC Backup Automatically (Build 1524 and higher)

  1. Email yourself a copy of the backup and download the backup to your phone. (Choose My Documents\Documents folder if prompted).
  2. Open DejaOffice.
  3. Tap Settings, tap Logging and Support Settings.
  4. Tap the "Restore a Backup" and select the backup with a file size\time and date stamp that looks correct.
  • Note: You might have to allow access to the Android Documents folder (or the downloads folder) for the Backup list to load.

New Storage Location:

  1. Download and Extract the Archived backup file from your Email to your PC. (Once downloaded, right click the .zip backup, and select Extract All). Rename the extracted file to companionlink.db
  2. Connect your Android device to your PC and mount it as a disk drive (i.e. mass storage mode).
  3. On your PC, open Computer or My Computer, then open your Phone's drive.
  4. Browse to \Android\data\com.companionlink.clusbsync\files\backup\. This also might be stored in a Documents\DejaOffice folder or Downloads DejaOffice if you set this from the prompt after the update to Build 1524).
  5. Copy the file from Step 1 to the \Android\data\com.companionlink.clusbsync\files\ folder. Choose to replace the existing companionlink.db file if prompted.


Legacy Storage Location:

  1. Download and Extract the Archived backup file from your Email to your PC. (Once downloaded, right click the .zip backup, and select Extract All).
  2. Close CompanionLink on your PC and Exit DejaOffice on the Android.
  3. Connect your Android device to your PC and mount it as a disk drive (i.e. mass storage mode).
  4. On your PC, open Computer, My Computer, or File Explorer and then select your Android device from the drive list.
  5. Browse to the Internal\Phone Storage and open the CLUSB folder.
  6. In this folder, you will find a file named companionlink.db. Rename this file to companionlink.db.old
  7. Copy the "companionlink.db" file you extracted on the PC to the the CLUSB folder on the device.
  8. Disconnect the USB cable and reopen DejaOffice.
