How to exclude a category

Note: Category exclusion is a feature only available on CompanionLink Professional and CompanionLink FA.

In some cases you may wish to exclude a category that's on your device but not in your PC database. An example may be that you have an "evening league" group as well as your personal contacts on your phone. To prevent this from happening you will want to create that category in Category Manager and exclude it from syncing. What this means is that CompanionLink will not touch those contacts.

  • First configure your sync. You can find the appropriate setup guide at this webpage:

  • The next step is to open Category Manager

  • Once that is done highlight contacts (or any other data type that you will be excluding a category from) and select Create New Category.

  • Enter the name of the category on your device exactly and press ok

  • You should now see the new category in the list. If you do not please close and reopen Category Manager
  • Then select Exclude Category

  • This is what you should see once the category is excluded.
