Before You Start

If this is your first time using CompanionLink, we recommend you take a minute and review our Sync 101 page. It contains helpful information about how to prepare a proper sync environment to minimize potential problems.

Back up your data

CompanionLink cannot be held responsible for any data corruption or data loss that may occur in conjunction with our software. CompanionLink highly recommends backing up your PC database before performing a sync and on a regular basis.

Install DejaOffice for Android

DejaOffice is a free application that can be installed from the Android Market. Simply search the Android Market for "DejaOffice," or visit http://www.dejaoffice.com/androidapp from your mobile device. For more details, view full instructions on how to install DejaOffice for Android.

Installing CompanionLink

Install CompanionLink on your PC - http://www.companionlink.com/downloads/updates.html

Registering CompanionLink

The 14-day trial software is fully functional. To register your paid license, enter the name and email address you used to purchase the software in the CompanionLink registration window (File > Register).

CompanionLink 6 Configuration Guide

Configure CompanionLink 6 on your PC

  1. Run "CompanionLink Setup" from your desktop or start menu and click "Settings" (The menu may pop up automatically if this is your first setup).
  2. Select your contact manager from the drop-down option in the "From" section (Select your PC or web database...) and configure your contact manager settings.
  3. Select "Settings" beneath your PIM and configure the data types you wish to sync with, then click OK.
  4. Select "Android" from the first drop-down option in the "With" section (Select the device you want to sync with...).
  5. Select "CL Secure Hosted Wireless" from the second drop-down option in the "With" section (Select your sync method...) and carefully read through the prompts. You will be asked to setup an account and to enter payment details (This service is $9.95/month per device).

Configuring database settings

You will now need to configure CompanionLink settings for the database you wish to sync with. Each contact manager (such as Microsoft Outlook) works a bit differently, and has its own unique settings to configure.

Advanced settings and other options

To select specific folders to sync with, create custom field mapping, change auto-sync settings and more, configure Advanced Settings.

Setup DejaOffice on your Android device

  1. Open DejaOffice, then tap "Setup Wizard" and ensure that you select "CL Secure Hosted Wireless" as your sync method. (If it is your first setup the wizard will pop up automatically)
  2. OPTIONAL: Configure DejaOffice to sync with the native Android apps (within Setup Wizard).

How to sync

  1. Open CompanionLink on your PC, then click the "Synchronize" button (auto-sync is also an available option). Your data will be synchronized to CompanionLink's secure servers.
  2. Open DejaOffice from your Android device, and tap "Sync". Data will be synchronized between CompanionLink's secure servers and your device.

To Configure Auto-synchronization

To enable Auto-Sync in CompanionLink 6

  1. Run "CompanionLink Setup" from your desktop or start menu.
  2. Click "Settings."
  3. Click "Advanced" on the bottom left of the CompanionLink screen.
  4. Click on the "Auto-Synchronization" tab at the top.
  5. Set according to your preference.

Please note that when auto-sync is enabled the CompanionLink program must be minimized to the system tray and not be showing on your screen or task bar. Also attempting to manually sync with auto-sync enabled will cause issues, if you wish to manually sync please disable the auto-sync function.


CompanionLink 5 Configuration Guide
