Configuring DoubleLook Enterprise for Act! and Exchange

ALWAYS Backup Your Data Before Configuring DoubleLook Enterprise.

Once DoubleLook Enterprise has been installed on your Exchange server, the following instructions will help you configure it to synchronize your Exchange user accounts with your ACT! database.

  1. Launch DoubleLook Enterprise via the shortcut the installer created on your desktop.
  2. Click "Add Profile" to launch the DoubleLook Enterprise configuration wizard, then click Next on the Welcome screen.
  3. Select "Exchange Server" on the PDA Name screen, then click "Configure".
  4. Enter your Exchange Server Domain in the Exchange Domain field to allow DoubleLook Enterprise to access the Exchange usernames in Active Directory. In the Username field, select the Exchange user you wish to synchronize, and enter the user password in the Password field, if applicable.
  5. Click OK, then Next. This should bring you to the PIM Name window.
  6. Enter your version of ACT!, then click Configure.
  7. Under the ACT! Data tab, enter the path to your ACT! Database, along with your database username and password. Any additional custom sync settings can be configured using the various tabs in this screen.
  8. Click OK, Next, then Finish, to add your new profile to the DoubleLook Enterprise user management console (UMC).
  9. Repeat steps 2 through 8 for each Exchange user which you wish to add to the UMC.
  10. Click "Activate Synchronization" to begin synchronizing the selected profiles in the UMC.

NOTE: Your Exchange administrator needs to have full mailbox access permissions for each Exchange mailbox that you have selected for synchronization in DoubleLook Enterprise. DoubleLook Enterprise will then use these permissions when it needs to access the Exchange user mailboxes. (Your Exchange administrator should be the same user that you are currently logged into Windows as.)

If the necessary Exchange permissions are not already set, they will need to be configured before you will be able to successfully synchronize. The steps below describe how to appropriately configure these permissions to work with DoubleLook Enterprise.

  1. In Microsoft Active Directory, double-click the Exchange user that you want to synchronize with using DoubleLook Enterprise. This should open the user properties window.
  2. In the user properties window, go to the 'Exchange Advanced' tab, then click 'Mailbox Rights'.
  3. Click 'Add', then enter the name of the Exchange user account that you are logged into Windows as, then click OK. This should add your Windows user to the 'Group or usernames' window pane.
  4. In the 'permissions' (lower) Window pane, give this user Full Mailbox Access.
  5. Click OK twice.
Repeat the steps above for each Exchange user you want to synchronize with using DoubleLook Enterprise.
