ACT! API Error: MissingMasterDatabaseException (Missing Master Database Exception)

ACT! API Error: MissingMasterDatabaseException

This error indicates a problem between ACT!'s programming interface and SQL server. You may be able to fix this problem using the procedures below:

Repair SQL server using the ACT installation CD.
  1. Back up your ACT database.
  2. Insert your ACT! installation CD.
  3. Use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to browse to the following folder on the CD:

    * If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, browse to \Dependencies\SQL Express 2008 R2\x64
    * If you are using a 32-bit version of Windows, browse to \Dependencies\SQL Express 2008 R2\x32

  4. Run Setup.exe
  5. In the SQL Server Installation Center, click Maintenance, then click Repair.
  6. Use the wizard to repair the ACT7 instance of SQL Server.

Once the repair operation is complete, attempt a synchronization to see if the problem persists. If you still receive the error, then try the following procedure:

Remove and reinstall ACT!/SQL server
  1. Back up your ACT database.
  2. Completely uninstall ACT and all SQL applications and databases

  3. Reboot your computer
  4. Re-install ACT
  5. Restore your ACT database backup into a new ACT database using the "Restore As" function

Your ACT! username or password is invalid.

  1. Open ACT!
  2. Click Help > About ACT!
  3. Note what is displayed for Registered User
  4. Enter this information in in CompanionLink under ACT Settings
NOTE: A blank password should be fine unless one is set
