Verizon Wireless Sync Removal

These steps describe how to turn off Verizon wireless synchronization for Verizon Wireless Windows Mobile/Pocket PC PDAs and Smartphones. The Wireless Sync application syncs information with the handheld. By default, it disables the ability to synchronize with ActiveSync (or Windows Mobile Device Center). In order for CompanionLink to work, the handheld must be able to sync data without error to its native syncing application.

After completing the appropriate steps, set up a purge and reload in CompanionLink and synchronize.

Procedure:
Treo / XV-6700:

  1. On your handheld, go to Start > Programs and open the the Wireless Sync application.
    NOTE: If it asks to install the application, perform a soft reset of your device and do not proceed with steps.
  2. Go to Menu > Sync Settings.
  3. Uncheck the following:
    • Calendar
    • Contacts
    • Tasks
    • Notes
    • Full Device Backup
  4. Select 'Done/OK'.
  5. Go to Menu > SyncXpress Settings.
  6. Uncheck the following:
    • Calendar
    • Contacts
    • Tasks
    • Notes
    • Full Device Backup
  7. Select 'Done/OK'.
  8. Go to Menu > ActiveSync Setup.
  9. Under 'ActiveSync Connection', verify that the option is set to 'Enabled' and press OK.
Motorola Q (version 1):
  1. On your handheld, go to Start > Programs and open the the Wireless Sync application.
    NOTE: If it asks to install the application, perform a soft reset of your device and do not proceed with steps.
  2. Go to Menu > Activities > Sync Activities.
  3. Uncheck the following:
    • Calendar
    • Contacts
    • Tasks
    • Full Device Backup
  4. Select 'Done'.
  5. Go to Menu > Activities > SyncXpress Activities.
  6. Uncheck the following:
    • Calendar
    • Contacts
    • Tasks
    • Full Device Backup
  7. Select 'Done/OK'.
  8. Go to Menu > ActiveSync Setup.
  9. Under 'ActiveSync Connection', verify that the option is set to 'Enabled' and press OK.
Motorola Q - Version 2:
  1. On your handheld, go to Start > Programs and open the the Wireless Sync application.
    NOTE: If it asks to install the application, perform a soft reset of your device and do not proceed with steps.
  2. Go to Menu > Settings > What to Sync.
  3. Uncheck the following:
    • Calendar
    • Contacts
    • Tasks
    • Full Device Backup
  4. Select 'Done'.
  5. Go to Menu > Settings > ActiveSync.
  6. Under 'ActiveSync Connection', verify that the option is set to 'Enabled' and press OK.
