GoldMine Conduit Removal (Palm)
The following steps outline the removal of the GoldMine Palm conduit.
- Find data
- If all of your data is in GoldMine, go to step 2.
- If any of your Address Book, Date Book, To Do List or Memo Pad data is solely on your handheld and not in GoldMine, please stop at this point and contact our Technical Support department.
- Turn off synchronization software
- Close the Hotsync Manager by right-clicking the red and blue arrow HotSync icon in the Windows system tray, then choosing Exit. The icon should then disappear.
- If CompanionLink is installed, open CompanionLink Setup and click on the File menu and select Reset Palm HotSync Settings, then exit the program.
- Turn off the GoldMine synchronization.
- If you have GM 6.6 or prior:
- Open GoldMine.
- Click on the File menu and select Synchronization, then Sync w/Palm.
- The GoldMine Palm Synchronization Wizard will open. Click Next.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Click the Conduit tab.
- Click on Uninstall Conduit.
- When this is done, close the GoldMine Program.
NOTE: If a message indicates the conduit does not exist, has NOT been installed, or has already been removed, continue to step 4.
- If you have GoldMine 6.7: You must hard-reset the handheld.
- Uninstall synchronization software
- Open the Control Panel and double click on Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall the Palm software.
- Bring up Windows Explorer.
- Delete the ENTIRE Palm folder. Open Windows Explorer and find the Palm folder(s). See Where do I find Palm Desktop? for help finding this folder. If you find one of these folders, highlight it and delete it. Note: These folders MUST be deleted. If these folders are not deleted, your data will not synchronize properly.
- Remove CompanionLink settings.
If CompanionLink is NOT currently installed on your computer, close Windows Explorer and skip to step 6.
- Remain in Windows Explorer.
- Open the CompanionLink folder (under c:\Program Files\CompanionLink and/or c:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application Data\CompanionLink\CompanionLink, depending on your version of Windows)
- Delete all files ending with a ".dat" extension. If you cannot find these files, please see How To Display All Files for an explanation of how to display all files.
- Once these files have been deleted, close Windows Explorer.
- Install the Palm Desktop software from the original CD. If you do not have this, you should download the Palm Desktop software from our site instead.
Note: When reinstalling, you will either be prompted to "restore Palm Desktop conduits" or to choose what you want to sync with. Be sure to select either "restore Palm conduits" or to sync with Palm Desktop, depending on which option you see.
- Delete current data from the Palm handheld
- Set up a custom HotSync by right-clicking the HotSync Manager icon. (It should be in the Windows system tray in the lower righthand corner of your desktop next to the clock)
- A menu will pop-up. Choose Custom. The Custom menu will open.
- Highlight the AddressBook (or Contacts) conduit, and click the Change button. From the Change HotSync Action menu, choose Desktop Overwrites Handheld, but do NOT check the Set As Default option.
- Highlight the DateBook (or Calendar) conduit, and click the Change button. From the Change HotSync Action menu, choose Desktop Overwrites Handheld, but do NOT check the Set As Default option.
- Highlight the To Do List (or Tasks) conduit, and click the Change button. From the Change HotSync Action menu, choose Desktop Overwrites Handheld, but do NOT check the Set As Default option.
- Highlight the Memo Pad (or Memos) conduit, and click the Change button. From the Change HotSync Action menu, choose Desktop Overwrites Handheld, but do NOT check the Set As Default option.
- Click Done.
- Perform a HotSync. This will empty the relevant conduits without requiring a hard-reset of the handheld.
- Turn on the handheld. Click on the Address Book (or Contacts). Make sure that there is no data in the Address Book (or Contacts). Do the same for the DateBook, To Do List and Memo Pad (or Calendar, Tasks, Memos).
- Reconfigure CompanionLink.
Note: If CompanionLink is not installed, install it now.
- Run CompanionLink Setup.
- Click on Settings.
- If you are prompted to select a profile, choose to modify your existing profile and click Next.
- Click Next and Configure.
- Click on the Purge And Reload tab.
- Put checks in all of these boxes. (When prompted if you want to do this, choose Yes.)
- Click Apply, OK, Next and Finish.
- Perform a HotSync.
